HOW I WORK

Start with how the business works.

I look at how people, processes, technology and business priorities connect. I question assumptions, find what’s getting in the way and work out what to do next.

What needs to improve and how we’ll know whether it has.

Understand the challenges.

I start by understanding how the organisation works, who is involved and what’s getting in the way.

Question the assumptions.

I ask why things are done a certain way and whether the proposed changes make sense for the business and its technology.

Make a workable plan.

I work out what needs to change across the processes and technology, and what the organisation can realistically take on.

Put the plan into practice.

When needed, I help put the changes into practice, with clear responsibilities for the work.

I’ve worked in technology for more than two decades, across support, development, engineering, consulting and leadership roles in both the public and private sectors.

I’m interested in why businesses keep doing things a certain way, particularly when the original reason no longer applies.

BEFORE CHOOSING THE SOFTWARE

Better software won’t fix a process that no longer makes sense.

Before adding another tool, I want to understand the work it’s meant to support. A slow handover or an unnecessary approval can be easy to miss when the conversation starts with software features.
